Astrology
I offer astrology readings with an emphasis on developing the authentic self. My approach is based on traditional techniques and informed by themes in Jungian psychology: shadow integration, soul purpose, bringing ancestral patterns to light, and reconciling the spirit of our depths with the chaotic spirit of our times.
I am available for private readings at my home office in Missoula or via Zoom. A 90-120 minute reading focusing on your natal chart as well as the current one-year period is $175, however flexible payment plans are available. Readings can be tailored around specific inquiries, such as event timing, relationships, parenting, integrating past events, and making major decisions. I evaluate planetary condition using traditional and modern techniques, and rely on prognostic methods such as transits, solar returns, secondary progressions, profections and other period lords, combined with other divination techniques when appropriate.
I have been studying astrology since the age of 14, when I learned to cast charts. In the early 1990s I began studying formally under New York City astrologer Shirley Soffer. I began seeing clients in 1994 and later wrote a weekly astrology column for the Middle East Times. I was an early student of Project Hindsight, a mid-1990s project to revive traditional astrology techniques and philosophies. Over the years, I have completed workshops with seminal teachers such as Robert Hand, Robert Zoller, Demetra George, and Robert Schmidt. I am currently being tutored by Martin Gansten in his Primary Directions Diploma Course.
My graduate studies at Columbia University focused on the history of esoteric sciences in the medieval Greco-Arab world. I traveled on a Fulbright-Hayes Dissertation Research Fellowship to carry out manuscript research in Cairo, Istanbul, and Oxford for my Ph.D. thesis, which examined the nexus between Greek and Arabic astrology as practiced by the 11th century Egyptian physician 'Ali Ibn Ridwan. In 2023, I completed a certificate in Jungian studies for non-clinicians through the Jung Institute of Los Angeles.
As a child, I was drawn to the forest and the realm of fairy tales and myth. I studied art, comparative faith, and Jungian topics at the Evergreen State College. Concurrent with my astrological practice, I have pursued creative work as a writer, artist, and editor. My journalism, comics, and poetry have appeared in publications including the New York Times, Montana magazine, Sensitive Skin, Unsplendid, A Gathering of the Tribes, Barrow Street, Tar River Poetry, Calyx, the Cairo Times, and others.
I love to travel and have lived in New York City, Cairo, Beirut, Malta, and Missoula, Montana, where my husband, Ryan, and I own Montgomery Distillery. Our son Heath is a high schooler. I am active with BASE Missoula, an all-abilities arts and community center.
I encourage clients to explore different ways of looking at time, fate, and choice in creating rich, integrated lives. Occasionally, I lead workshops on esoteric topics and art.
